A study is a succession of activities, tasks and/or questions that AI moderator will execute during a session. It's a basic unit for testing in Userology. Each study has its own results and reporting, and test results are collected on a per-study basis.
This guide will walk you through the following steps:
-
Creating a new study.
-
Naming and structuring your study.
-
Defining study objectives.
-
Configuring user details.
-
Selecting the type of research.
Detailed Steps
Step 1: Create a New Study
Think of a study as a project that contains all your information. To begin, click on create study to start a new project.
Step 2: Name and Structure Your Study
Once you've clicked on create study, you'll notice that the study is untitled. You'll also see sections like launch, recordings, and results that you'll be able to access once you've set up the study.
- Action: Give your study a name. For instance, if you want to understand Amazon's onboarding experience, you could name your study accordingly.
- Tip: This name is for your internal tracking, and the AI also uses it for context. Including some details in the study name can be helpful.
Step 3: Define Study Objectives
Provide as much detail as possible in the study objectives section. This is where you outline your hypotheses, expected outcomes, and what you want to study.
- Example: If you want to understand the usability issues in Amazon's sign-up process, you could write that as your objective.
- Why It Matters: The AI uses the study objective to draft the interview guide, conduct moderated sessions, synthesize results, and create reports. Providing more context helps the AI understand what to do.
Step 4: Configure User Details
In the user details section, mention the demographic and usage patterns of your target persona. This information helps the AI calibrate the questions.
- Action: Create recruitment criteria and screeners. The AI will automatically generate these, which you can modify later.
Step 5: Select Research Type
Click next and choose the type of research you want to conduct. There are 4 supported methods:
-
Prototype Testing - To test interactive designs with Figma prototype links
-
Live Product Research - To get feedback on existing products through activities or guided exploration
-
Voice Interview - To conduct in-depth discussions without visual materials or tasks
-
Concept test - To gather feedback on mockups, or product ideas through visual presentations
- Tip: You can modify these choices later in the section flow, where you can add or delete sections.
- What Happens Next: The AI will take some time to create the complete structure of the study. It will also create a discussion guide.
